Most organizations often overlook the importance of identifying with unique characteristics associated with person-job fit as part of the talent acquisition process. Unfortunately, it doesn’t matter if the applicant has the skills to do the work if they lack compatibility with the demands of the job, such as characteristics like work styles and work tolerance! During this session we’ll discuss the concept of person-job fit as applied to jobs in several settings including retail sales and customer service. We’ll talk about the process of analyzing jobs to discover person-job fit beyond skills and work experience alone, as well as approaches for using person-job fit information to improve the talent acquisition process in a manner which will help to reduce employee turnover and increase levels of job satisfaction.
