Planning to Stay Healthy
Managing an injury claim is not a simple or easy process. This session will offer strategies to prevent injury, facilitate “staying at work” or a quick return to work. Participants will become acquainted with the value and implementation of microbreaks and functional job descriptions. You will create a functional job description and apply it in your plan to keep the work force healthy.
Lorena Pettet Payne has been working in industry to reduce incidence and risk of musculoskeletal injuries since 1985. Emphasis in practice has been early hazard identification and intervention, ergonomic modification and immediate attention to self management. A Physical Therapist since 1983, she is an Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist, currently serving as President of the Occupational Health Special Interest Group for the American Physical Therapy Association. She is past president of the Montana Chapter of APTA and was involved in worker compensation legislative changes incorporating practice guidelines. A quote that guides my practice is from Dr. Maria Neira (Director, Department of Public Health and Environment, World Health Organization).
“The wealth of business depends upon the health of workers.”
