‘Social responsibility’ refers to the idea that individuals and organizations have an obligation to act in a way that benefits society at large, making sure that our services and actions are welcoming, supportive, and accessible to everyone. Businesses have an impact on society, and we want that impact to foster positive and equitable outcomes.
That's what we all strive for, but the world is changing fast. Sometimes, these changes outpace our understanding of sociocultural dynamics and systems of support in the workplace and in our communities. We need to stay up to speed with the changes to ensure that our systems and workplace culture continue to adapt to the change occurring around us. Data proves that doing this work enhances the well-being of individuals, organizations, and communities.
Despite the enormous value, there is still opposition. We need to be mindful of how we balance our commitment to social responsibility with the potential scrutiny it may attract. When we combine short-term, actionable best practices with long-term intentional strategy, we’re able to implement the successful changes we seek to create.
It’s work, but it’s worth it… people are worth it.
We'll be discussing how we create & implement successful change, including,
• Best practices for inclusive workplace culture (short-term, actionable, everyday)
• High-level overview of social responsibility/DEIB in strategic planning for successful change
• Education, high-level assessment, leadership commitment, in-depth analysis, implementation
• Types of programs to implement
• Legal considerations
• Next steps: resource tool kit & how to move forward
