Generally, the GVHRA meetings are held according to the following schedule; however, please refer to the specific meeting flyer sent via email from the GVHRA President as dates/times/locations are subject to change.
11:15 a.m.—11:30 a.m.: Registration
11:30 a.m.—Noon: Lunch
Noon– 1:00 p.m.: Presentation
Gain a working definition of Autism and Neurodiversity as well as current statistics on employment and 'autism hiring initiatives.
Hire: Learn how to evaluate positions within your organization that match the unique strengths of individuals with autism. Identify potential roadblocks within your hiring and interview processes. Expand your toolbox for adapting your hiring strategies.
Train: Gain knowledge for establishing a successful mentor program as well as creating supportive management strategies and evaluation processes. Identify the supports your future employee needs (before they need them).
Retain: "Put passion in your routines and your routines can become passions." Anonymous -- Learn how to foster routines within work settings (including making change a part of a routine) and address anxiety related work challenges.
Bio of Presenter:
Carolyn Long, MCD SLP-CCC, Founder and President of Common Goals Consulting, LLC.
Carolyn brings 20 years of experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist and communication specialist to the world of employment for individuals with communication challenges. She has had the unique experience to work with clients from infants to centenarians in hospitals, schools, rehab clinics and home health. And she has loved every minute of it. Carolyn currently provides direct communication coaching sessions and consultation services through her company Common Goals Consulting, LLC as well as works for the Bozeman School District in the giant high school. When she's not working, she spends those 10 minutes learning about cows from her awesome horse, Holla.
To make a reservation, please click on the "Reservations" tab on the website, then search for the appropriate meeting date. The location requires a 48 hours confirmation of attendees for catered events; therefore, reservation links are active two weeks prior to the event and close the Monday prior to the event. Also, let us know when you RSVP if you will need any accommodation.
RSVPs help the GVHRA board, presenter, facility and caterers to accommodate all attendees. Members who make a reservation and DO NOT attend will be charged. Additionally, copies of presentation materials and food may not be available for those who do not RSVP.
